Who Wins the Weekend Box Office?

You all know my love of Star Wars, and with the new movie out last month, I had occasion to talk about how long the original movie had been in theaters. These days, we're lucky to have a movie at theaters for more than a few weeks - but back then, flicks stayed for a long time. In the case of Star Wars, it ran continuously for nearly a year - something unheard of now.

I wanted to examine a couple of major films over the last few decades to compare their stay at the box office, and how much they earned over that period. Enjoy!
