Sam
Sam was a Windows 8 storytelling app that brought to life Microsoft's Advertising story through compelling in-app demos, customer videos, and audience insights. Refreshed quarterly, Sam shared the most up-to-date sales pitch and demo materials all in one place, allowing the user to choose the most relevant content for their client conversations by vertical, product, market, theme or brand.
Role
Sam had a tiny team for such a big remit. My role grew from technical advisor to product manager, project manager, tester, release manager, and cheerleader. Sam's content requirements came from a business group, but I managed all other features and design implementation through a third-party development vendor.
Success Metrics
During its initial beta phase, Sam was used at client meetings across the US and EMEA, and at CES and Cannes Lions. Reception by both clients and the Microsoft field was extremely positive. After its July 28 launch, Sam was downloaded 1200 times in the first 2 weeks. Microsoft leadership valued Sam's opportunity value to company at $40M in FY15.
